VSŠKV
VSŠKV – Higher Vocational College for Cosmetics and Wellness Ljubljana is a private vocational school, which holds the leading position in Slovenia regarding the number of enrolled students in the Cosmetics and Wellness programmes. We believe that this result is not a coincidence but a reflection of quality work, the wide network of employers that the school collaborates with, the reputation of the school and numerous options for personal and professional development offered by the school.
Most vocational schools do not offer a single professional or content-based orientation but VSŠKV combines (and will continue to combine) only relative and content-oriented study programmes from the following areas:
- care and beauty,
- wellbeing (wellness),
- health and a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Our programme scheme, development and implementation follow the objectives of the EU projects of Vital and Time-well, the APHRO education modules and modern development trends at home and around the world – especially the complete (holistic) view on human development and health. The area of care, beauty, wellbeing, health, healthy and balanced lifestyles is interdisciplinary so a complete holistic approach in this area is necessary.
VSŠKV – Higher Vocational College for Cosmetics and Wellness Ljubljana offers two accredited publicly validated vocational school programmes:
- the Cosmetics programme and
- the Wellness programme.
Both programmes last for 2 years and are undertaken in 3 cycles, in the form of part-time studies.
Studies are undertaken as a course and within the periods defined by the school with a programme of lectures. The lectures and practical lessons take place twice a week (Cosmetics: Tuesday and Thursday; Wellness: Monday and Wednesday) in the late afternoon from 16:45 to 20:45, and occasionally also on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00.
Each study year lasts for 34 weeks in the first and second year (cycle), 24 of which are organised lessons and 10 are practical sessions with employers.
The programme is accredited with a total of 120 credit points under the European transfer system ECTS.
The entire vocational study programme of Cosmetics and Wellness is based on the most common reason people visit an expert for cosmetics or wellness – CBL. The "Client Based Learning" approach means that the client is the starting point and that the cosmetics/wellness specialist is focused on resolving the customer’s problems.
Studies on similar schools abroad show that a student remembers the learning content better this way, partial knowledge is more easily and better assimilated to form a broader, more comprehensive understanding, an interest in studying increases and the learning process also helps to develop a student’s thinking.
In addition to the CBL approach, other approaches pervade the courses at VSŠKV: an integrated approach to learning theoretical and practical content, problem orientation, customer contact during the entire programme, promotion of active learning, promotion of a responsible and active relationship between students, mentors, instructors, educators and others in student practice.
VSŠKV builds the type of relationships between students and lecturers which we believe are characteristic of the school of the future: where lecturers and students collaborate during learning, where the lessons are adjusted to the needs of an individual as much as possible, where the joy of learning and a desire for new knowledge is nurtured etc. Where school is not just a necessity but also a place of desire and joy.
The cosmetics and wellness fields are as old as mankind itself, as over the centuries people have wanted to be beautiful and healthy. Today, this tendency is even more pronounced. Both of these areas are therefore in constant development, professionally trained personnel are in great demand and there are good prospects of employment abroad as well.
With skills in management and effective communication, knowledge of foreign languages, skills in creating complete wellbeing in people and coaching skills etc. those graduating in either programme are of interest to the tourist industry, preventive health services and also have the capability to undertake independent activities in the area of beauty, care, health, wellbeing and physical activities.
VSŠKV graduates can therefore successfully work on their own business initiative, in cosmetics and in beauty centres and salons, wellness, spas, nutrition and fitness centres, bathing areas, saunas, massage and pedicure centres, health resorts, hotels, homes for the elderly, in operative consultation teams who handle health and healthy lifestyles for individuals and groups, especially within the field of sports, within tourist and hospital activities, in sports and shopping centres and anywhere where they require skills for planning, production, marketing and sales of (new) cosmetics/wellness products/services and in the management and organisation of businesses dealing in this area either at home or abroad.

The higher vocational college programme Cosmetics was created out of the needs of the labour market, on the initiative of employers and in consideration of the expectations of cosmetic service users.
The Cosmetics programme has a modern design. It includes a wide range of professionally based theoretical and practical knowledge skills within the area of cosmetics and is line with the guidelines for the development of the cosmetics profession.
The programme offers active study and a choice of individual subjects or modules according to the interests of an individual.
Accreditation in accordance with the European system enables employment mobility and recognition of vocational education not only in the Slovenian market but also in the European labour market.
After graduation a graduate acquires the VI/1st level of vocational education and the professional title of Higher Cosmetician.
Our graduates have excellent prospects for career development and in the realisation of their own business ideas within the field of cosmetics.
The cosmetics programmes are the “studies of the future” and the proof of this is in the increasing general trend of being healthy, being beautiful and how to feel at your best in your own skin!

Wellness
Professions in the wellness industry really are the professions of the future because they deal with wellbeing and healthy and balanced lifestyles, and these are very important conditions for a better quality of life. Something we all strive towards … more and more each day!
So in the future it will be important WHAT is offered in this field, and even more important – HOW it is offered! And even today this triggers a necessity for a high level of creativity in the design and implementation of new wellness services on the market and in the improvement of the existing range.
The purpose of the Wellness study programme is to gain useful expertise in modern approaches to improve the quality of life and health of individuals and in the overall organisation and management of wellness services.
The programme offers active study programmes and a choice of individual subjects or modules according to the interests of an individual. Accreditation in accordance with the European system enables employment mobility and recognition of vocational education not only in the Slovenian market but also in the European labour market of labour.
After graduation a graduate acquires the VI/1st level of vocational education and the professional title of Wellness Programme Manager.

- Prepares individual / customised programmes for customers.
- Uses modern information technology.
- Designs and markets (new) wellness services.
- Communicates and collaborates with customers, co-workers and participates in expert teams.
- Ensures work quality, wellbeing and customer satisfaction.

CONDITIONS FOR ENROLMENT
Conditions for course enrolment:
- completion of a general or vocational Matura or completion of an equally relevant education in accordance with previous regulations (4-year secondary school study) or
- completion of a master’s, foreman’s or supervisor’s exam, three year’s work experience and passed relative tests through general education study in those subjects designated as vocational Matura in secondary vocational education.

ENROLMENT 2024/2025
The deadlines for enrolments in higher education are determined by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of RS. The application deadlines for the academic year 2023/2024 are as follows:
- 1st application deadline: from 20 February to 15 March 2024,
- 2nd application deadline: from 23 to 29 August 2024.

Fill in the application form electronically, then print it out, sign it and send it together with any certificates (if necessary; see the next question) by registered mail to the higher education application service at the following address:

If you have finished / expect to finish secondary school outside Slovenia do not enclose any additional certificates (even if you already have a validation), but you must send the following documents to the vocational school you have listed as your first choice (VSŠKV) by 15 March 2024 (1st application deadline) or by 29 August 2024 (2nd application deadline):
- certified copy of your secondary school graduation certificate,
- certified Slovene translation of your secondary school graduation certificate,
- certified copy of the penultimate year certificate of secondary school,
- certified Slovene translation of the penultimate year certificate of secondary school,
- certified copy of your final year certificate of secondary school,
- certified Slovene translation of your final year certificate of secondary school,
- copy of an identification document (your passport or identity card),
- chronological description of previous education,
- a completed form regarding the recognition of any education undertaken abroad (N form).
VSŠKV conducts the educational recognition procedures and issues a decision to determine if you meet the required educational conditions for enrolment on the study programme for which you are applying and then notifies the higher education application service.
For certificates from former Yugoslav republics, acquired before 25 June 1991, the recognition procedure or the decision regarding meeting the requirements for enrolment on the study programme are not necessary. Send in an application with a certified copy attached of the graduation certificate and certified copies of the final two years of secondary school.
The International Baccalaureate – IBO diploma is equal to a Matura certificate acquired in Slovenia.
